How to Use
For the safe use of Azithromycin, contact your doctor and let him know if you suffer or have a history of any of these conditions:
- Liver or kidney disease
- Myasthenia gravis
- Heart rhythm disorder
- Personal or family history of Long QT syndrome
Follow the prescription strictly when using Azithromycin. Take the recommended dose at the same time every day for the best results. Based on your medical history, the doctor may need to adjust your dose for better results.
You can take the medicine on an empty stomach or with food. The Zmax extended-release liquid can be taken one hour before meals or two hours after meals.
Open the packet of oral suspension and pour the medicine into 2 ounce of water. Stir then drink the entire mixture without saving any for later. Add some more water, swirl then drink. This will ensure you take the entire recommended dose. Discard the mixture if it hasn’t been used in 12 hours.
For the pre-mixed oral suspension, measure the recommended dose using a calibrated dose measuring spoon or cup. A pharmacist will provide you with the right dose measuring cup or spoon.
FDA Pregnancy Classification
Azithromycin is not expected to bring harm to an unborn baby. It is also not known if the drug can pass into breast milk and whether it can harm a nursing baby. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant soon or if you are breastfeeding a baby.
Store at room temperature and far from direct heat and moisture. The oral suspension can be refrigerated. Discard the liquid medicine after 10 days.
